Montage Palmetto Bluff Luxury in Lowcountry

My recent escape to Montage Palmetto Bluff completely blew me away and redefined the meaning of “calmness”.

Have you heard of the Lowcountry saying before?

It was new to me and as soon as you drive into Montage Palmetto Bluff, you’ll automatically know what it feels like.  It’s not simply a resort but entire community comprised of homes, cottages and even an Inn that you can stay in.

This was one of the biggest resorts I’ve been to and I could not believe how spread out it was-with 20,000 acres (the size of Manhattan, think about that!).

At Montage Palmetto Bluff, there is so much to do and share with you, I thought the easiest way was to break it down into a few of my favorite highlights.

Here are a few of my favorite highlights and reasons why I love this resort in Lowcountry:

1. Located on the May River in what is considered Lowcountry. I love how it’s so close to Savannah, only 30 minutes away. This is the best and closest airport to arrive into when staying here. If you want to combine it with an adventure at another destination, it’s a 4 hour drive from Charleston and 5 hours from Atlanta. I definitely recommend staying on property for around 4 nights.

2. Depending on the experience you’re looking for, and who you’re traveling with, you’ll find yourself quite at home with the variety of lodging options. I loved the choices between the homes in the village for larger families or groups, to the cottages along the lagoon. (The screened in porches create a sense of coziness and you’ll feel like it’s your own little escape!). The Inn, where I stayed, feels more like your traditional hotel room.

3. There are SO many activities and things to do! My favorite was exploring the whole community by bike. The resort has bikes for you to use on their 15 miles of trails. Pick one up and explore the houses or ride under the Canopy trees for a little workout. Besides biking there are so many other activities including: Boat rides through Palmetto Bluff, Kayaking while you watch the dolphins, fishing, Shooting clay targets at their shooting club (I tried this and it was my first time shooting a gun. The instructors are so patient and it’s the best place to learn how to safely operate a gun), golfing on the stunning Jack Nicklaus golf course, walking trails, horse bake riding, cooking lessons, tennis, croquet, bocce, dine at 8 different dining options, bowling at Cole’s (don’t forget to eat food here too, the best southern BBQ) or just simple relax by one of their many pools. Lets talk about the SPA, as everyone knows… it’s my favorite part of any resort and being a Montage I had a feeling this one wouldn’t disappoint. Settle down with a book by the fire and wait for your treatments or use the steam room, sauna and jacuzzi, you’ll love this little piece of the property as much as I did!

4. They offer so many daily rituals and I couldn’t decide what I liked better-the nightly smores or daily “porching”. The Smores have homemade marshmallows and a preparation cart that you can stack up your marshmallows and go sit by one of the three large fire pits on the grass in front of the water! The setting couldn’t be more like a Hallmark movie! The “porching” is setup in the Inn each day as the lowcountry is accustomed to taking a break in the afternoon to pause the day. They have teas, lemonade and sweets on the porch! Take a break while you grab a rocking chair and relax!

5. During my whole stay I couldn’t stop thinking that this resort is SO ideal for families and weddings! Both would be perfect for this lowcountry resort. It would absolutely be the PERFECT setting for a wedding with it’s natural beauty of trees water and a magical background and they even have 2 churches (Justin Bieber had his wedding here!). For the kids, there is so much to do and keep them entertained including Paintbox and the Merits (which is a scavenger hunt).
