Canouan Island The Best Unknown Destination You Should Get to Know...Right Now!

Mandarin Oriental Canouan

Recently I visited what I like to call a “destination unknown” in the Caribbean. It’s a very untouched island, that not many have heard of… especially perfect for those who crave some real privacy. I was truly impressed with my experience here, and how magical it was!

Below, I’m sharing everything you need to know abut Mandarin Oriental Canouan. Don’t forget to reach out to me if you would like to inquire about your own experience here. Of course, I’ll get you the very best perks and pricing!

Overview of Canouan island and The Resort:

In the heart of the Grenadines you will find this lush and beautiful island that maintains a true sense of privacy with perfect sugar sand beaches! It’s called Canouan, which is a type of turtle. The island has more turtles than people who live it it : only 2500 people reside on the island.

The gentle and kind nature of the people of Canouan is immediately obvious and I have never felt so safe! They are thrilled to have you there and some of the most genuine people I have interacted with.

Water sports and sailing are some of the best in the Caribbean. A short sail away is Tobago Cay (where pirates of the Caribbean was filmed!) and the area has some of the best snorkeling and diving on the planet!

The sea turtles are so much fun to swim with! You’ll also enjoy volleyball matches, tennis games, and a hike to the top of the highest point of the island with breath taking views will make you fall in love with Canouan.

Also I have to note: the resort is surrounded by a reef protected lagoon making it incredibly calm right in front!
They have a 18 hole golf course on island that has stunning views and can keep you busy for half the day.

The spa is filled with international therapist who are the best at what they do and the treatment rooms are bungalows hidden on a hill that over look the turquoise waters…making you want to leave the treatment door open to hear the sounds of the waves.

They kids club was one of the best I had ever seen which invites children ages 4-14 with unlimited games, pools, water slides and fun!

Now lets talk about the food and wine! The resort has four restaurants offering guests a wide selection from French, Italian to beachside causal including a swim up bar where you can get both a drink and lunch!
They have the Caribbean’s largest collection of Italian wine varietals featuring 3500 bottles of over 300 classic labels. Enjoy a delicious meal cooked right in your villa or head out to dinner. Be sure to visit

L’ Ance Guyac close by-a MUST for a special evening!

Best Caribbean Islands to combine it with and the best way to travel to Canouan island :

St. Lucia, Barbados and St. Vincent are the best choices. There aren’t any direct flights to the island from the states yet, but Miami should be adding a direct soon (Soho house is opening a hotel and so is the Aman brand which will bring more of a need for direct flights).  The airport welcomes private jets and charters from any of the below destinations. You can fly from multiple US airports to the below and take a short flight over to the island. They also have a beautiful marina that can be accessed by yachts for the very discerning visitors.

Flights from Barbados start around $500 to the island and you’ll have a designated Mandarin Oriental agent at the airport to swiftly get you to connecting flights and customs. If you want to take the private jet it’s about $4500 for 6 people.

-15 minute plane from St. Lucia (UVF)

-25 minute flight from Barbados (BGI)

-15min flight from St. Vincent (SVD)

-20min flight Grenada (GND)

-20minute flght Martinique (FDF)

Best time to visit Canouan:

Canouan Island is blessed to be located off the main hurricane paths in the southeast Caribbean so even during “Caribbean hurricane season” this is a perfect escape!

Temperatures are perfect year round, even in the summer its not too hot.
