Sugar Beach, St. Lucia: Barefoot Luxury at its best
I'm just back from our annual team retreat to Sugar Beach Resort in St. Lucia and saying we had an incredible time there is an understatement! This Caribbean gem is one of our clients’ favorite destinations, and after experiencing it firsthand, it’s easy to see why. Sugar Beach offers laidback, barefoot luxury at its finest, and there’s truly nothing else like it in the Caribbean.
From the moment you arrive, you’ll notice a difference from other Caribbean Islands because of its dramatic landscape. Two nearly vertical mountains - locals call them Pitons, meaning "mountain peak" in French - meet the warm, glistening Caribbean Sea just a few hundred yards from the resort's secluded beach. I've never seen mountains meet ocean quite like they do there and the views from the resort never got old.
Besides the location, what makes this property special is the staff and their warm, caribbean hospitality. Many of the staff have been here for 10+ years and within hours of being there, I felt like I had known them for just as long. They genuinely care about the resort and treat you as if you were visiting their St. Lucian home. Every room comes with butler service, so from unpacking your bags to planning excursions, someone is there to make your stay effortless.
In this guide, we answer all your questions - Is the all-inclusive plan worth it? What room is right for me? What is there to do on St. Lucia? Even give you a full 5-day itinerary to get your wheels turning before we plan your next trip together.
We add on all the extra perks for your stay here so make sure to reach out to us to book your next trip!
All-Inclusive Plan – Is It Worth It at Sugar Beach?
When we book your stay at Sugar Beach, your reservation already includes daily breakfast with the perks we provide. If you choose the all-inclusive plan, it covers lunch, dinner, and well alcohol (top-shelf drinks are additional). At Saltwood, instead of your meal being full all-inclusive, you'll receive a $125 credit per person, per day to use towards food and drinks.
Here’s our advice:
If you drink a lot or want three meals per day included, the all-inclusive plan is worth it.
If you’re a one-drink-a-day type or don’t drink much, stick with breakfast-only and enjoy the flexibility of à la carte meals. Prices were reasonable and portions were sizable.
Picking the Perfect Room at Sugar Beach:
All rooms at Sugar Beach come with butler service, but location and style vary:
Sugar Mill Luxury Guestrooms: Lead-in category, centrally located near the lobby. Perfect for walking everywhere. Great for convenience and cost-effective.
Luxury Cottage Villas: If you want privacy, these are your best bet. Larger villas, often with private pools, situated higher up in the jungle. Opt for the Ocean View Grand Luxury Villa for prime ocean views. Keep in mind that you'll need to take a 5 minute shuttle ride when you want to get to the main area of the resort for F&B, Gym, Spa, Beach and Pool.
Luxury Beachfront Bungalows: Ideal for toes-in-the-sand access and proximity to everything. Super convenient, right on the beach with great outdoor patios facing the water. These offer less privacy than the Cottage Villas so keep that in mind if you're seeking seclusion.
Multi-Bedroom Villas: Perfect for families or groups. Options include 2- to 4-bedroom villas with direct beach access, plus the massive 9-bedroom Spice of Life villa, a 35,000-square-foot masterpiece. Spice of Life is one of the best villas I've seen in the Caribbean; it's like a resort within the resort and you'll feel very well pampered.
