Wildflower Farms, Auberge Resorts: My Solo Escape to Hudson Valley
If you’re craving a peaceful getaway less than two hours from New York City, I just stayed at the perfect spot: Wildflower Farms, an Auberge Resort. It’s one of the best solo retreats I’ve ever experienced, where laid-back farm vibes meet elevated resort luxury, making you feel worlds away from the city without sacrificing a single comfort.
Between the wellness offerings, immersive dining, and authentic upstate New York experiences, I left feeling more relaxed, centered, and recharged than I have in ages!
While I had an amazing time enjoying some quiet, solo downtime, I couldn't help but think how perfect this place would be for a weekend getaway or even a romantic retreat with your significant other. The combination of cozy cabins, tranquil surroundings, and intimate dining experiences creates the ideal setting for reconnecting and unwinding together.
Whether you choose to travel together or solo, here’s everything you need to know to plan your own escape.
First Impressions
The moment I arrived, I could feel myself exhale. The quiet, the open space, the cozy interiors… it all just instantly put me at ease. I sat by the fire in the lobby with a coffee and a soft blanket and watched the sunset over the fields outside. That simple moment set the tone for the whole trip.
The Rooms: Cottage-Core Dreams
All rooms are freestanding cabins with floor-to-ceiling windows and views of the woods, giving a true sense of privacy. The design is earthy and elevated: think warm wood tones, handmade ceramics, and plush bedding.
There are a few different room types depending on your vibe:
Ridge Cottages (my personal favorite!) are tucked higher into the hillside and feel extra secluded.
Meadow Cottages are closer to the main spaces but still quiet and peaceful. Ideal if you like being near the action without sacrificing tranquility.
Bower Cabins are set within the forest and feel ultra cozy and connected to nature. They’re especially dreamy in the cooler months.
I highly recommend the Ridge Cottage, which had sweeping valley views, a private fire pit, and an oversized soaking tub. It feels like the perfect sanctuary.
Bonus: there are no TVs in any of the rooms. And I didn’t miss one for a second!
Do as Much or as Little as You Want
One of the best parts of a solo trip is getting to do exactly what you want. I mixed in a little activity with a whole lot of rest, and it was perfect.
Here are some of my favorite on-property experiences:
Bread-making class (my favorite - surprisingly meditative and so fun!)
Guided nature walks + foraging tours
Floral arranging workshops
Seasonal cooking classes
Pickleball, hiking trails, and snowshoeing in the winter
Quiet moments in hammocks or just walking the grounds
The Spa: A Sanctuary Within a Sanctuary
Thistle, the on-site spa, is reason enough to visit. I got a 90-minute lymphatic drainage massage and felt like a new person afterward. So much lighter, calmer, and clearer. The spa is airy and surrounded by nature, and there’s also an indoor pool and outdoor hot tubs if you want to linger post-treatment.
Clay: A True Taste of the Hudson Valley
The food at Clay, the signature restaurant, is fresh, local, and delicious. Every dish feels thoughtful and seasonal.
Highlights: the massive, gooey cinnamon roll at breakfast, wood-fired vegetables, and a glass of Hudson Valley wine at dinner.
The energy is cozy but elevated and it felt like the perfect way to end each day.
Final Thoughts
Wildflower Farms gave me exactly what I needed. Space to slow down, reconnect with myself, and enjoy a few days of quiet luxury. Whether you’re craving stillness, self-care, or just a break from the chaos, this place delivers in the most thoughtful way.
