Escape to the Remote Hawaiian Island of Lanai Four Seasons Lanai

I was thrilled to stay in Lanai, which has been a Hawaiian island on my bucket list for years! I had the opportunity to experience three nights at the Four Seasons Lanai Beach Hotel and three nights at a new wellness retreat, Sensei, a collaboration with Four Seasons. (read the Sensei Blog Here) If you’re booking a trip to this stunning island, you MUST experience both!

Overview

Located on one of the most intimate islands of Hawaii, this oasis puts you directly in a lush paradise, steps away from the Pacific Ocean! It’s only a 20 minute flight from Honolulu & the moment you step off the plane in Lanai, you’ll realize how different the topography is compared to the other islands. Pine trees are abundant here, with hundreds of plant species, beautiful local birds, & tons of deer, which outnumber the people (the island is also known for hunting).

The resort has two pools overlooking Hoopoe Bay, one dedicated to adults only. The lounge chairs surround the pool and also face the water below on the lawn, which I loved since I’m not a sand person!

You can also opt to take a quick walk down a paved path and enjoy the secluded beach. There are plenty of dolphins and whales that can easily be spotted, making for exciting views!

Rooms

The hotel’s 213  rooms and suites are decorated with natural and relaxing tones. I was very content with the sliding doors in my abode, which provided beautiful views of the ocean and the constant sound of waves crashing. It was so tranquil, I didn’t want to leave my bed some mornings! A bonus is the heated toilets which greet you with an open seat when you enter the bathroom!

Activities

  • Go on a serene hike

  • Get adventurous and ride an ATV

  • Take a romantic catamaran at sunset

  • Partake in beach horseback riding

  • Play on the signature Maneli 18-hole golf course

  • Explore the surrounding area with a Jeep tour

  • Spot exotic fish while snorkeling

  • Get an overhead look of the island by seaplane

Dining

The resort has fantastic restaurants to choose from, which I was lucky enough to try all, as well as venture into Lanai City for some live music at Lanai City Grill. Another option is the Nobu at the Sensi property, which offers a different menu than Lanai.

At Lanai, they have four restaurants, two of which are very well-known (Nobu and Malibu Farm).

Nobu is known for its refined Japanese cuisine, crafted with local ingredients. I loved the tacos!

Malibu Farm is open for lunch and has a healthy and fresh flare to it! Great for laying out and overlooking the ocean, I recommend ordering a cocktail relaxing! I especially loved the cauliflower pizza,

Another option is One Forty, which was my favorite! This delicious restaurant gives off a refined steakhouse vibe and serves local cuisine (make sure to try the salmon)!

Last but not least, The Break is the perfect spot if you’re looking for something casual. They serve breakfast, lunch and dinner and offer quick bites with no reservations needed.

What makes this property even more incredible is that all restaurants have views of the ocean. If you decide to dine here, it’s recommended to makes reservations ahead of time at all but The Break.
